The gaming market has an increasing variety of headphones, prices are increasingly competitive and manufacturers offer higher quality models. We can see it in models like the HyperX Cloud Alpha in the mid-range or the SteelSeries Arctis Pro in the high-end. Today we are going to review in detail the HyperX Cloud Orbit S gaming headsets that is, without a doubt, one of the best gaming headphones that you can buy today. Before buying headphones, you should learn Headphone Tech Specs.
Overview: HyperX Cloud S Gaming Headsets
HyperX has created the Cloud Orbit S using the premium technology of the Audeze Mobius using the same magnetic driver at a lower price – compared to the Audeze. But is it worth paying the $300 for these gaming headsets?

Who should buy the HyperX Cloud Orbit S headset?
This HyperX model is ideal for you if:
- You are a gamer looking for the best sound and maximum functionality.
- You are passionate about music and you only accept the best sound quality.
- You work from home and are looking for comfortable headphones that last for hours and hours.
How does the HyperX Cloud Orbit S sound
The most remarkable thing about HyperX Cloud Orbit S helmets is how they sound, their sound quality is superlative. Knowing that they use Audeze’s 100mm flat magnetic drivers it is expected that their sound is of the highest quality and leaves no room for doubt. Basically, you won’t find other headphones that sound this good under $330.
The bass response is quite accurate, the lower frequencies have a lot of room and do not get clouded or feel overdone. In some cases, they may sound a bit increased but it does not affect the whole.

The middle frequency is very well adjusted. The mid lows feel inviting while the high mids offer plenty of clarity for drums, vocals, and if you’re gaming, shots.
The high frequency is perhaps the best feature of the HyperX Cloud Orbit S gaming headsets. The audio is clear and detailed, more than enough for a gamer but, if you are an audiophile, you may miss a little more clarity.
3D surround sound
There is much to highlight about the sound of the HyperX Cloud Orbit S beyond its response at the frequency level, and that is its 3D surround sound. Featuring Audeze planar magnetic drivers and Waves NX® 3D audio technology, the spatial sonic sensation is sublime. HyperX Cloud Orbit S provides a more realistic listening experience with ultra-precise sound localization and positioning.
The 3D sound and motion sensors mean that when you turn your head, you perceive the sound as if it were coming from the room and not from your headphones. The feel is far superior to any other 7.1 surround sound simulation.
The HyperX Cloud Orbit S includes a detachable 3.5mm noise-canceling microphone and, for gaming headsets, its quality is more than sufficient. As with most headphones on the gaming market, the microphone boosts the bass quite a bit. For most, it is not a problem, but if you have a deep voice, it can sound distorted.
Gaming headphones often increase the high frequencies noticeably, as high-pitched sounds predominate when speaking. The microphone on the HyperX Cloud Orbit S doesn’t boost the highs too much, and they’re obviously not the best choice for recording podcasts.
Active noise cancellation is not included in this model. Passive cancellation is achieved thanks to good, thick ear cushions that guarantee a very good seal on your ear. Obviously, with active noise cancellation, the performance would be better, but the HyperX Cloud Orbit S still performs well in most situations.

Is the HyperX Cloud Orbit S comfortable to use?
The padding of the HyperX Cloud Orbit S has memory and over time, the cups and headband will mold to the shape of your head. The headphones fit snugly over the ears although they are a bit narrow, and if your ears are a bit wide they can feel a bit uncomfortable after wearing them for a long period.
The headband is flexible and tight enough to fit comfortably. The flat magnetic drivers have a major influence on their total weight, 368 grams, but the feel is balanced and they don’t feel heavy.
For basic use, this model is almost identical to the Audeze Mobius, and that’s a guarantee. In addition, they include almost all the equalization profiles of Mobius.
For a gamer, having Bluetooth is a great advantage but, in return, the Cloud Orbit S offers better sound quality. With the Bluetooth support, the model could have facilitated the immediate connection with mobile devices covering all the needs of the users.
Finally, the battery of the HyperX Cloud Orbit S is 10 hours. Of course, it is not the best on the market but, since they are not mobility-oriented headphones, it is not a limitation for their use.

HyperX Cloud Orbit S Design
The HyperX Cloud Orbit S is an over-ear headphone with a sleek black design with some gray reflections. The general appearance is quite different from any other HyperX headphone model mainly due to the influence of the Audeze Mobius.
The mount is perhaps the biggest difference from the rest of the HyperX headsets models. While the rest have a metal frame without coatings, this model is mainly plastic with a fairly resistant padded cover. Overall, everything looks and feels more premium than the other HyperX headphones models.
All controls are in the left cup. The microphone off and mute buttons are on the side. Along the side, there is a volume wheel for the microphone and another for the sound. Holding the microphone wheel pressed for 2 seconds activates and deactivates the charger. In addition, pressing the volume knob for 2 seconds changes the sound mode between stereo, 7.1, and 3D.
Following the microphone volume wheel, there is the 3.5mm auxiliary port that allows you to use the headphones with your mobile or as a link to your PS4 controller, for example. This provides a lot of versatility when it comes to wearing the helmets, especially since it does not have wireless connectivity.
Continuing on the side, next to the auxiliary port, there is a USB type C port to connect to the computer or your console. Behind the USB-C is the detachable microphone port.

Last but not least, there is the 3D sound button. Touching it activates the motion sensor and surround response, holding it down changes the 3D audio mode to manual, automatic, or off.
In the box, you will find everything you need to use them. Apart from the headphones, there is an auxiliary cable, a USB-C cable, and a USB-C to USB-A cable. They also include a carry bag and a removable microphone.
Should you buy the HyperX Cloud Orbit S?
Of course, the HyperX Cloud Orbit S is the best gaming headsets on the market. The lack of Bluetooth can be missed but it is not decisive in gaming headsets as much as in other types of headphones. Nowadays, most consoles do not support Bluetooth and if you play on a PC you will do it at a short distance where the cable will be more than enough.
If your budget allows it, it will be very difficult for you to find a better option than this model. If, on the other hand, you have a tighter budget but want great sound, the HyperX Cloud Alpha headphones are a great decision. On the other hand, if you are looking for mobility and want a wireless headset, we recommend you opt for the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless, SteelSeries Arctis 7, or the HyperX Cloud Flight S.
Personally, if I had to choose between the Audeze Mobius and the HyperX Cloud Orbit S, I would surely opt for the Cloud Orbit S since they offer the same experience, are somewhat more comfortable, and sound just as good for a more adjusted price. Choose the Mobius Audeze if you want a model that covers all situations.
The HyperX Cloud Orbit S is, without a doubt, the best gaming headsets you can buy. Check the best prices for HyperX Cloud Orbit S-Gaming Headset on Amazon.
